Orlando Bloom and Zooey Deschanel team up to endorse a stunt double in need.
Zach Hudson, who has done stunt work in a number of movies and TV shows including Pirates of the Caribbean and New Girl, is currently battling ALS and needs donations to help cover treatments and other expenses.
On Thursday, Bloom and Deschanel shared Zach's story on social media to support crowdsourcing donations. "We live in challenging times and in a way I imagine that we are all 'walking through our desert'. I wanted to share a link for a man I respect and admire," wrote Bloom on Instagram alongside photos of him and Hudson on the set.
The actor went on to say that Hudson is someone who "always had a smile on his face, whatever the challenge was in front of him".
"He is currently fighting bravely against ALS, which is progressing much faster than expected," said 43-year-old Bloom. "If you happen to be a fan of the film and / or mine, please follow the link in my bio to find out how you can be a blessing to this wonderful family."

Deschanel, 40, whose new girl stunt double is Hudson's wife, Monica Braunger Hudson, also wrote about his story. According to Deschanel's post, the couple met on the set of the Fox comedy.
"This is my 10+ year stunt double - Monica Braunger Hudson. If you love New Girl's Jess, you'll love Monica, she was instrumental in bringing so many comedic moments to life," the actress wrote alongside a picture of the two dressed identically on the set.
"Tragically, her husband was diagnosed with ALS earlier this year. They are unable to work due to craving and need help with expenses for treatment, equipment and bills," she continued. "She also looks after her two very young daughters. If you have a few dollars to spare, please consider making a donation. Thank you! ❤️"
According to a GoFundMe page set up by friends of Hudson, he and his wife share two daughters, ages 1 and 3, and Hudson also has four older sons.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, neither Hudson nor his wife are currently able to work, according to GoFundMe.
The couple also hopes Hudson can participate in a stem cell trial. However, the pandemic "has stopped all of these attempts".
"Monica and Zach are not going to ask for help; they are the type to help and challenge others," his friends wrote on the site. "They are a young, beautiful family and deserve all the love and support they can get as they struggle against this terrible disease."
