Carmelo Anthony has reinvigorated his career with the Portland Trail Blazers and now it looks like he's leading it back for the next year.
According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Anthony signs a re-signing contract with the Blazers.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the deal is for the veteran's minimum.
The deal with Anthony will mark another step in an active off-season for the Blazers after bringing back Enes Kanter and Rodney Hood and signing Derrick Jones Jr.
Carmelo Anthony found new life in Portland
Anthony's career seemed to be nearing the end of last year after a disastrous tenure with the Houston Rockets in which the team stopped retiring after 10 below par games. Instead of giving up Anthony, the Rockets kept him on their roster until a deal with the Chicago Bulls, who passed him on without playing him in a game.
At this point, Anthony was 34 years old and years away from his All-Star days. An entire off-season passed without Anthony finding a new home. Then, a month into the season's start, an injury-ravaged Blazers team got him on a non-guaranteed deal.
Anthony played alongside Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, averaging 15.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while giving Blazers the much-needed boost on the wing. The Blazer season ended in a one-sided series loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, but Anthony clearly had a role to play.
Now it looks like Anthony will take on that role again this season.
