theGrio reported that the Atlanta Police Department and Crime Stoppers offered a $ 10,000 reward for information that eventually led to charges against the suspect, who was arrested for shooting and killing Byrd. The 70-year-old actor was found dead from gunshot wounds on October 4th.

In a development under the Atlanta Journal constitution, an arrest was made in the act of violence. Using evidence and collected tips, they identified the suspect as 30-year-old Antonio Demetrice Rhynes. The outlet also reported that arrest warrants were issued Wednesday and he was detained early Friday morning, where he will be detained at Fulton County Jail.
The AJC found that Rhynes' criminal history since 2007 included multiple arrests on a series of charges of armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, break-in and hijacking of a motor vehicle, and more. Police said the shooting followed an argument near Byrd's home.

The Tony Award nominated actor's daughter, Shannon Byrd-Crossley, spoke to the AJC about the arrest and said she did not know Rhynes.
"We are grateful for all the progress made," Byrd-Crossley told the news agency. "I am very relieved. But at the same time it doesn't bring him back. "
Another of Byrd's daughters, Desaree Murden, also spoke about the Atlanta Journal Constitution murder. She offered kind words in memory of her father.
"I realized that God's gift to me was my father and how he loved me and how he felt - that I was the smartest, most capable and most beautiful person in the world," Murden said on Tuesday during a memorial service, according to the AJC. “I could do anything. I would say something trivial. And he'd say, "Girl, you're so smart."
The memorial service, held in Atlanta, was streamed online to hundreds of people and was attended in person by family. Byrd is survived by his son Thomas IV; five daughters, Aria, Carmen, Kalah, Shannon and Desaree, five grandchildren and his ex-wife.
