India 161-4 at lunch, day three of 4th test vs Australia

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) - Australia's tempo attack required two key gates of the highest order, and India reached 161-4 at lunch on day three of an even, series-defining cricket test at the gabba.
India added 99 runs for losing Cheteshwar Pujara and captain Ajinkya Rahane in Sunday's first session after resuming 62-2 in response to Australia's first innings of 369.

Josh Hazlewood scored the hosts' first breakthrough on Sunday by removing Pujara for 25 balls out of 94. The sailor teased the 90 Test veteran with a good length ball that found the edge and after 39 overs led 105-3 to wicketkeeper Tim Paine with India.
Rahane played some elegant strokes, but also some expansive strokes off the stump, and his luck finally ran out to 37 when he completed a Mitchell Starc delivery to Matt Wade on the third slip.
Agarwal turned out to be the most comfortable batsman on day three, hitting both sides of the wicket. He and Pant will be the key to India's hopes for a competitive first inning result.
On Saturday, Pat Cummins took the first wicket for Australia with his second ball, with Shubman Gill (7) fighting forward and taking on Steve Smith on the second slip.
Nathan Lyon, who was playing his 100th Test, sacked Rohit Sharma for 44 just before tee. The seasoned off-spinner seduced the India opener into a big shot he missed and brought Starc a catch into the outfield .
Heavy rain during the break ultimately led the referees to abandon the game for the entire evening session.
The series is 1-1 and India only needs a tie to keep the Border Gavaskar trophy.
