How the Celtics could acquire Victor Oladipo from the Rockets

Scalabrine: As the Celtics Could Add Victor Oladipo originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
The big headline in the NBA on Wednesday was James Harden, who teamed up with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on the Brooklyn Nets. However, this wasn't the only notable step.
Part of the blockbuster deal were the Indiana Pacers, which Victor Oladipo sent to the Houston Rockets for Caris LeVert, whom Brooklyn had originally sent to Houston. Oladipo, a two-time all-star, is slated to become a free agent after the season.

Winners and losers of the massive Harden trade
With Oladipo headed west, NBC Sports Boston's Brian Scalabrine believes he's a player the Boston Celtics should be looking at as a potential trading target later this season (video above).
"One guy I would keep an eye on is Victor Oladipo, who was just shipped to Houston," Scalabrine said on Wednesday. "I think Houston wants to suck this year. I think they want a top 3 selection that is protected, and their selection is going to Oklahoma City if it isn't. Victor Oladipo might be a guy the Celtics do can." Go out there and get yourself. You could take their trade exemption, swap some young people who are talented and go out, and I think because he has an expiring contract it fits into this $ 20 million shape that the Celtics can spend now without giving up a ton.
"I think if they could make a difference with this trade exemption, we could go on a series with the Nets and say, 'I like us better than them on paper.' As constructed right now, no. But it depends what they do with this trade exception. I can see how the Celtics could be in a position where we like our chances. "
That would be interesting.
Oladipo played a total of 55 games between the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns due to a knee injury. The 28-year-old has looked 100 percent so far this season, averaging 20.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists in nine games.
