Grand Theft Auto fans are thrilled to hear that the next release in the series will feature a playable female lead character.
The account of the first female protagonist in the game's 23-year history comes from Tom Henderson, a video game superfan who has proven himself credible in posting news about other marquee games, particularly the Call of Duty series.
With more than seven years between today and the last release in the GTA series, fans are starving for news about how GTA VI is evolving. If this unconfirmed update proves to be groundbreaking for the franchise, fans will have cause for excitement.
GTA developer Rockstar Games has not announced that it will work on a sequel to the franchise. As such, they stick to the idea that despite the report, players can play as a woman for the first time. Company representatives did not comment when Complex reached out to them.
However, radio silence is not enough to dampen the reaction of fans. They flooded Twitter with gusto after the rumor spread.
