Armie Hammer Drops Out of JLo Movie ‘Shotgun Wedding’ Amid Social Media Firestorm

Armie Hammer dropped out of Lionsgate's "Shotgun Wedding," in which he was supposed to star with Jennifer Lopez in a social media firestorm involving the actor.
"With Shotgun Wedding approaching, Armie has asked to retire and we support him in his decision," said a production spokesperson.
The role is being redefined. A rep for the actor has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment.

Hammer's decision to leave the project has been hotly debated after news was posted on the star's Instagram account under the name House of Effie. Although the DMs have not been verified, they have made the rounds on social media due to the explicit nature of expressing an interest in cannibalism and rape fantasies.
The actor did not publicly comment on the news, but Page 6 noted that the star had previously made "Call Me by Your Name" comments on record, such as a 2013 Playboyt interview in which he presented himself as a "dominant lover" referred to who liked to "grab" women by the neck and hair "during sex.
In October, Lionsgate announced that Lopez and Hammer would star in the film Shotgun Wedding, directed by Jason Moore. Ryan Reynolds is executive producer on the film.

The film follows a couple who host a destination wedding with their lovable but sensitive families, only to get the couple cold feet and hold the entire wedding reception hostage, forcing the couple to save their loved ones before they each other go down each other's throats. Mark Hammer and Liz Meriwether wrote the script.
Hammer's recent credits include Gender Based, Wounds, Rebecca and Hotel Mumbai, and he will be the next star on Crisis and Death on the Nile.
He is represented by WME, Relevant and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
