The mid-size Ford Ranger is going to get an attractive redesign on these spy photos.
A leaked photo from 2019 also previewed the new look, which features more boxy proportions as well as a new grille and headlights.
The 2022 Ranger is scheduled to hit the market at the end of the year and go on sale early next year.
Ford is revitalizing its range of pickups, including the new 2021 Ford F-150 (and its upcoming high-performance Raptor and electric variants) and a new compact pickup called the Maverick. The medium-sized Ranger pickup will also get a new look. If it's what we saw in a leaked photo and those spy footage, it's a more tempting choice in the segment that includes popular options like the Jeep Gladiator and Toyota Tacoma. We might even finally get the Ranger Raptor here in the US.

A more angular front end is the focal point of the more attractive look, and the new Ranger will have C-shaped headlights, similar to those of the redesigned F-150. They'll likely be linked by two large bars on the grille, though the camouflage in these Ford spy photos hides the new Ranger's face well. The overall size is similar to the current truck, it rides on black wheels and the taillights appear thinner and not as bulky as those of the current generation.
The new Ranger is expected to keep its turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The optional tow package is currently capable of towing 7,500 pounds. The current Ranger offers a high-performance Raptor model in other global markets. In the US, we're currently having to settle for various off-road packages, including the tremor. The good news is that the Raptor variant of the new model could make its way to the US at some point. Rumor has it that the 2.7-liter V6 with two turbochargers and 310 hp will be used in the 2021 Bronco off-road SUV.
The interior should also be improved, including a larger touchscreen with Ford's new Sync 4 infotainment system. The current model offers an optional 8.0-inch touchscreen, while the F-150 comes with a massive 12.0-inch Device can be equipped.
We expect the updated Ranger to hit the market in late 2021 or early 2022, and be available in the US as a 2022 model starting at $ 30,000.
